CHILD INITIAL THERAPY BLOCK AGREEMENT
WELCOME!
Welcome to Talkshop Speech Pathology. We are looking forward to working with you. If you are reading this, then we have already identified therapy goals for us to get cracking on! Please take the time to read about our service below.
Enjoy
We deeply believe the best therapy is fun therapy. Your child will love attending their sessions as it’s all about fun! We are the ninjas of play and your child will have no idea how hard they are working.

Relax
We built this centre with your kids in mind. Please enjoy our play space in the reception area. Bathroom facilities are right there to the right of the Reception. There is a parents’ emergency box; nappies, wipes bandaids as needed in the reception and bathroom. Check the lost property box as you leave for missing items.

Take care
We aim to have something for all ages in the reception area. Please do not allow your child to play or borrow toys from our therapy shelves as we need to access them quickly for our clients and we suffer many lost and broken parts.

Rest assured of clinical excellence

Our speech pathologists are our greatest asset. We are constantly investing in their clinical and professional development constantly. This means that you can have confidence that your treating clinician will be treating you with the best evidence-based research in the field, backed by their clinical experience. We are keen to work collaboratively with you to support your child.

At the time of starting therapy with our service we will have current baseline measures and clear therapy goals to target. These are documented in your child's assessment report and Therapy Management Plan. This means that we have a plan of how will be prioritising therapy targets and have specific targets and strategies that we want to work with you on. Clear baselines mean we can measure progress and the effectiveness of therapy and home practice. We invest time to prepare for each session and love working with our motivated families.

As a client at Talkshop Speech Pathology, you are being treated by our team.  You will have a primary treating clinician, and a possible secondary clinician. This allows us ensure the continuity of your therapy if ever your primary clinician is away.

EACH WEEK

Home Practice

We are highly motivated to work with motivated clients. We are able provide excellent clinical advice and treatment in the session, but successfully using these skills in the every day life only comes with engagement with home practice. You will be given exercises to practice with at home each week based on your therapy session.

The exercises will be based on what we know to be the most effective to making a real and meaningful difference in your skills so that you can best participate in your everyday life. These will be reviewed at the start of every session.

We aim to give you up to 3 different types of activities to suit your family dynamic:

  • Activities that can be done on-the-go
  • Activities that engage with dynamic play
  • Activities that may require a bit more structure and focus.

We will advise on how often and home much (frequency and dose), which is based on what we know to be clinically most helpful to reach good results. We will always give you home practice that is 'easier' than what we do in sessions. This is so that your child can experience greater success and achieve more repetitions of practice. We have great results at our centre because we help you to achieve in home practice. If you are struggling – please talk to us.

Please bring

  • Any communication aids typically used
  • Your therapy folder and home practice
